We're gonna kick off this season with a series of very different Christmas flicks.  That begins with The Holiday, a prototypical offering of Hollywood schmaltz.  It was written and directed by Nancy Meyers (What Women Want, Something's Gotta Give), who has a strong command of frothy rom-coms.  In fact, she might be the best this side of the late, great Nora Ephron, who directed our upcoming NYE offering, Sleepless in Seattle.

For this week's vino, we went with Barter and Trade's Merlot, as it fits with the movie's theme of house swapping.  This is a nice, full-bodied Merlot that's still fairly fruit-forward and easy to drink.  Merlot is an extremely underrated wine, and it's perfect for cozying up to a fireplace with a good book or movie.

My written review of The Holiday is coming, and you'll be able to click here to read it.

Now, kick back and enjoy another fine episode of Cinemavino!
